Most reasons advanced in this post are not novel but to curtail the unbridled nonchalant posture of most Goverment agencies that unnecessarily bear their suffocating fangs on the brittle and delicate growth of MSMSE which are supposed to be the engine room of the economy to early mortality. MSMSE account for about 48% of GDP most of which have folded up due to depleting returns on investment wiping away the capital base these accounts for winding down of about 90% of businesses
In most cases, these agencies are not adequately accountable for onward remittance of revenue collected to Federation account as often witnessed when the National Assembly are carrying out their oversight functions of Fiscal Responsibility Act on Consolidated Revenue Fund. – remitting just pittance to TSA.
OVERVIEW OF PROJECTED OVERHEAD EXPENDITURE OF MOST MSMSE.
●– Energy Requirements – Self generation of about 70% of energy required.
● –Raw materials – Mostly imported while local content are expensive due to poor logistics amongst others.
● — Salary /wages. Minimum wage applies
● — Operating Equipment.
● — Factory Rent.
● — Depreciation of plant and machinery.
● — Upkeep maintenance of factory.
● — Logistic amongst many others.
● — Non manufacturing cost.
Financing all of the above are with Loans at excruciating interest rates.
MAJOR HINDRANCES TO MSMSE.
■ — Lack / Inadequate infrastructures.
■ — Multiple taxation.
■ — Ease of doing business.
■ — Customs clearance delays at the port.
■ — Bank charges
■ — Inadequate Human Capital Development.
■ — FINANCIAL INCLUSION /PALLIATIVE FOR BUSINESSES. .
Unemployment rate is currently 27.1% very high coupled with the attendant prevailing poverty rate.
LACK / INADEQUATE INFRASTRUCTURES
— AS at the time of writing Power transmission has gone beyond rhetorics it has risen to 5,420MW (from 3550mw in2019) For the first time ever. (August 2020). The feat is not unconnected with BUHARI’S ADMINISTRATION insistence in growing the power sector of the economy.
— Transportation /Logistic -most Federal and State highways are in deplorable state but undergoing rehabilitation . This has caused inefficient delivery of raw materials and imputs for production process. Most especially roads linking both wet and dry Ports in the country.
— Railways system is being incorporated into the haulage services at both wet and dry Ports.
MULTIPLE TAXATION
Unified tax system deficiency is the bane of the system here.
Conventional taxes imposed on MSMSE are numerous preventing healthy survival of Small businesses. eg :
Business Registration, Retail permit, Trade permit, Market taxes, Development Taxes, Emblem levy, Advertising levy, Vehicular branding (for advertising / interstate ) mostly without legal backup Others are :
VAT, Sales tax, Education tax, Company Income tax, Technology levy, Accommodation rent and lease taxes the 3 tiers of government are involved. and recently the International Shipping line firms are surcharging importers all adding to high cost of doing business.
EASE OF DOING BUSINESS
— There is a marked improvement in this sector due to prompt attention given to the sector by the office of the Vice President at the resumption of this Administration. In 2020, Nigeria has been rated 151th out of 190 countries of the world by the world Bank moving up 15 places. Although there is always room for further improvement.
DELAY BY CUSTOM GOODS CLEARANCE AT THE PORT.

BANK CHARGES.
Various banking products are created for profitability purposes these come along with hidden charges, accumulation of these charges is inimical to their clients liquidity . While the lending interest rates are quite exorbitant.

Most countries of the world are giving away financial palliative to business in this Post COVID 19 Pandemic era. The government of Nigeria should consider this to bouyed up the efficiency of the MSMSE.

TYPES OF COLD CHAINS
-SHOCK FREEZERS
Shock Freezers are professional equipment that controls temperature necessary for keeping products fresh for a long time.
While preserving the products the equipment makes to keep undamaged nutritional value of the products after being defrosted. The equipment is made to consists of Double Stage Semi Hermatic compressors. The Shock freezers system allows to lower the temperature very rapidly up to -180°C degrees. Freezing is provided by air coolers of it by blowing over fronted surface of the wagon. This enables to freeze down quickly in cold air flow. The room air should not exceed 35°/-40.°C. Besides, it’s proven to be a low-waste and environment friendly system.
COLDSTORAGE
This system is manufactured and installed with the entire components like it is ready to use. It could be of mobile device.
This system can be disassembled so it can be moved to other places.
Cold storage consist of the following levels and types of preserving:
-Cold-rooms 🙁 +16° / +5°C)
-Cold storage Rooms (+5°/-5°C)
-Freezing Rooms : (-18°/-23°C)
-Shock freezer :(-35°/-40°C) .
DEEPFREEZE ROOMS.
These are for preserving products such as meat, poultry etc. For a long time. They are preserved under temperatures not exceeding – 18°/-23°C. In order to isolate these rooms 150mm width sandwich panels are used.
COLD ROOMS
Cold rooms are used to keep baked goods, chocolates etc.
The cold rooms prevent bacteria from growing. Low ventilation allows workers to work without endangering their health which is very important aspect too.
