PERSONALITY
Baba, you strode like a collossous through the sand of time, growing from obsecurity to fame and recognition amongst your peers, family and friends. Pa ,Chief J.O. as was fondly called. Jacob Omotosho (aka – Ateji) FALEYE. was born on 25th October 1906 to an IFA oracle priest and Olumoyegun (mother). In his youth, he lived with his maternal uncle Pa, Fasuyi at Isape quarters of Ido- Ekiti .
As a boy, he was very rascally. Contrary to his father’s wish to become an IFA oracle priest he envisioned a paradigm shift and broke through the stereotypical limitation of tradition absconded to Usi-Ekiti a subbub and enrolled self at St. Andrew Primary School in 1924 , paying his school fees through the proceed of selling fire wood and other menial jobs.
I retrospectively learnt later that it wasn’t about how you shifted your paradigm but how you got your generation yet unborn to shift with you from traditional paralysis and freeze .
On completion, you proceeded to Oshogbo where you enrolled as an apprentice mechanic under WICK TRANSPORT (a British) Company in 1930.from where you joined the Nigeria Railways Corporation.
He grew through further trainings and the ranks to become Locomotive Engineer his generation of local Engineers took over from the British Engineers at independence. becoming ‘Locomotive Running Shed Foreman “( SF) senior Staff position. a responsibility that took him to transverse the length and breath of Nigeria from Lagos, to Zaria, Kano, Kaduna, Jebba, Kafanchan, Enugu and Minna where he finally retired on June 25th 1971. Baba married his first wife in 1931 , he became a Christian through his senior sister Madam Mary Olatunde ( Iya- Iloro) the Iyalode of St. John Anglican Church Ido – Ekiti . baptized, Confirmed and became born again.
Baba, your lordship over your household a polygamous setting was legendary, growing your children in an atmosphere of Love and Respect for one another which still persists, you never allowed domestic squabbles to metastasize and snowball into major crisis you were known to nib such at the bud from onset reducing such to mere domestic glitch. You were not an insipid leader that over look a family member’s feelings, you face all issues head- on always alert to issues no matter how little. while your leadership at work with Nigeria Railways Corporation and in your community at retirement was worthy of emulation always welcoming streams of visitors and strangers to your home even when not convinent ensuring they leave well assured.

LEGACY
Baba , to say we missed you (your children) is being emotive, your virtue and ideals in us all is driving us to surpass your achievements in life .
Baba, know what ? should the occasion warrant the gathering of your dynasty ( the Faleyes) it’s gonna be a microcosm of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly- delegation of people with diverse colours, languages, creed, profession and faith You have multipled and resonated in different parts of the world they are in diverse professions such as Actuaries, Petroleum, Law, Food processing-(Brewing, bottling etc) , Agricultural – (Food Security HCD consultancy ), journalism, Medics, Engineering, Missionary, Shipping,, Animal scientists, linguists, Education etc. all contributing to the development of the world.

SPIRITUALITY / EFFICIENCY
Baba, we took for granted your magnanimity to us such as early morning prayers for each of us, paying our school fees before resumption, inviting barber home for our hair cuts, chauffeuring us to-fro school about 15km away for many years yet reporting to work before 8am ,reservation of first class train tickets for us at holiday time from Oshogbo to Minna.
I can remember vividly the new year cross over night get- together which you cherished so much, it was a major celebration you choosed for your family we (the children) always salivate in readiness for the abundance of meat, chicken, turkey with pounded yam, rice , drinks and all sorts. It was an opportunity to hear again and again your genealogy, life experiences in fact how you met with our mothers — O My God,,- Baaaba.
Your cursive handwriting was awesome ,your mental recapitulation of events was extraordinary, we were privileged in the 1950s -70s through you to enjoy the benefit of your office such as being quartered in a labyrinth configured mansion in an expansive portion of land in the exclusive part of the town far away from the city- centre green covered by over twenty mango trees a replica of what today is GRA with regular supply of locomotive coal to fire our chimney cookers, telephone and other softies meant only for the White expertrites staff then. (Railways Snr.staff quarters).
Baba, despite your love and care for us, you were not oblivious of the need and problems of others – it took my growing up to know that “Daniel” a boy from Pankshin plateau state was not your biological son so with many others..
I remembered when you flew to Kano on visit to me , at North Brewery Ltd where I was a BrewMaster – there you met with the Managing Director (a very busy person) you were both delighted and enormously engaged each other in amusing friendly anecdotes and quips of intellectual discuss he instantly became fond of you thereafter, at your departure, he despite his( busy schedule) saw you off at the airport – that was whom you were friendly and affectionate personality at home with different statra of people .

CHARACTERISTICS
Daddy, you were not a prefect being but these attributes in you were real and worth mentioning, using words to describe you is not enough – was it your :
— Affability – Not difficult to approach.
— Benevolent – desire to be fair to all.
—- Charitable- love not influence by selfish desires and motives.
—- Cheerful disposition.
— Courageous – self- will of heroic daring, using innate energy to put down obstacles.
—- Courteous
—- Decisiveness – not insipid.
— Dignity – outwards expression of inherent worth and character.
—- Enthusiasm – faith in action.
—- Equanimity –
Your composure of evenness of mind ‘under stress’ to help in bringing out the best in others.
One undeniable ability identified in you was the factor of equanimity in human existence making others around you happy ,ventilating peaceful coexistence / environment for all that came in contact with you.
Williams Webster said – “If we work marble it will perish, if we work upon brass time will efface it, if we rear temples they will crumble to dust but if we work upon immortal minds and instill in them just principles – we are then engraving that upon tablets which no time can efface but will brighten into all eternity.-Thanks Daddy.

Dad, you exelled in the various integrity fora tests, such as Integrity at home- a Super Dad, with self -fantastic, at work – Excellent and in relationship – Faithfully awesome . While others have willingly forsaken relationship through the cause of their lives in other to achieve success, alienate self from friends. colleagues and family members some even use people as stepping stones on their path to posterity leaving trails of embittered and resentful former friends but that wasn’t you, you held all with dignity and respect just as you were held.
— Modesty – humility
—- Personal appearance – having culture and love of adornment inwardly and outwardly. Men of Gold they say are not necessarily drabbed in golden apparel but when scratched they emit pure unalloyed Gold.- that’s my Dad.
— Honour- won by actual worth and merit rather than by intrigue.
— Principled-
— Prudence -mild and pleasing personality.
—- Punctuality – at right place at right time.
—- Sociability – interaction with people. To have said you were an auto (automobile )freak is not to over blow your love for buying new cars such as The Prefect, Peugeot , Toyota and others all brand new cars.
—- Tactfulness – saying right thing at right time..
—- Temperance – moderate.
—-A man of virtue – moral excellence.
— Tolerance – recognizing the right of others.
—- Self control — having all your faculties under control to conquer the impulse to return the blows or insult. the quality that separate/ differentiate between man and lower animals. Dad, your ability to remain calm and unmoved under severe provocation, resisting very irritable impluse, even inclination to say harsh, unkind words when your most vulnerable point was assailed. This special stamina and force of character was far greater than that demanded of hero in mere physical contest . I can attest that through out my growing up you never raise your hand to beat anyone of us as your looks and body language were more instructive yet we are amongst the most disciplined and well behaved in various communities we grew up in. ——- And above all ,you have
The Fear of God.
Dad, time and space will not permit me to attest to all your good self.
Let me tell you that our MATRIARCH your first born Grandma G.A. Ojo wife to Professor Ojo (mummy ile -ife) is there for us all Chastising and whipping us when necessary to conform us to your ideals and standards though an octogenarian but not in anyway shacking in the responsibility you handed down to her taken good care of us – In fact, she is a mother in our Isreal.
Baba, the Nigeria Railways Corporation you helped built and loved so much is currently in shambles the various services are no more such as the – The Express limited passenger train from Lagos to Kano and Port Harcourt. The Goods train for transportation of Cash and Food crops to Lagos port also the petroleum tankers are all moribund and extinct in the order to dinosaur due to over the years neglegence. . Dad, don’t bother to ask me of your official coach fitted with all comforts of the time with retinues of staff to minister to your needs while on duty tour of troubled substations on rail line under your command – all the fittings were looted while the empty coach now home to miscreants . frequency in operations of train services is almost extinct various activities at railway stations such as shunting of coaches for next operations , various bubbling and beehives activities are no more .
However, we got assurance from the government of the day of early restoration of the lost paradise. Indeed the gruesome infrastructural deficit in railway transportation is evidently changing for a modern railway Standard Gauge track system which hopefully by your next anniversary it ‘ll be a new dawn.

POLITICS- After retirement, you became an opinion leader and moulder per excellence navigating the affairs of your community with others, I remembered you almost lost your life before it was due in a fatal and ghashly motor accident at Ilupeju – Ekiti all in pursuit of electricity, water and National Bank for your town and Ido- Osi community .then your opinion counted so much. Baba, things had since changed oooo ,
Our politicians now care for self and nuclear families laundering trillions of Naira in foreign land corruptly, now our clime has no limit for absurdity, indeed Nigeria is now the capital of extreme poverty of the world – yes baba. It’s so bad that i doubt if Sardauna. ,Zik, Awolowo and your good self should come down to their (the politicians ) show of shame you would not be able to contain their mundaneness and madness, but characteristic of you you’ll want to assert your cherished integrity and candour to assuage things but know what ? I’ll hold you firmly and pull you off their stance since I’d rather you live. – it’s as bad.

RESPONSIBILITY
You were actively involved with your church activities and programs serving faithfully in various committees you were the Bale of St. John Anglican Church, while the Oba Olojudo of IDO-EKITI Install you as Obaloja of the town..
Lest I forget, Baba pls on this auspicious day of your earthly birthday, please assemble your other patriotic colleagues beyond to organize a serious prayer vigil for Nigeria and her leadership since you’re closer to the Holy of Holies.
You transited peacefully at your residence at about 12.30pm Sunday 10th June 1989 at age 83years. continue to rest in perfect peace Baba.. GOOD NIGHT.
