QUICK GLANCE AT
NIGERIA’S CRUDE OIL MANAGEMENT .
Nigeria has an installed refinery capacity of 445000barrels perday from her four refineries, these comes with massive gas reserve to drive her electricity demands.
Energy Transition Target –
Nigeria has the most extensive gas reservoir in Africa with proven gas reserve of over 200trillion cubic feet. With the envisaged Petroleum Industry Act 2021 in full implementation across boardspectrum of oil/gas industry, it can sustain local demand for gas and high export income.
— Facts from Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative ( NEITI ) claimed that Nigeria lost 619.7millions barrels of crude oil valued at 16.25 trillion Naira($46.16bn) between 2009 – 2020.
— Probe carried out by a 13member Senate committee on crude oil theft claimed $2bn ( 1.3trillion Naira) between January – August 2022.
— In February ’23 , the MD of NNPC announced that fuel subsidies cost the country over $850million ( 400bn Naira ) monthly.
— In 15years 13.7 trillion Naira spent on subsidies -NEITI.
— Between 2015- 2021 subsidy payment rose from 307billion – 1.77trillion Naira ( Nigeria Economic Summit Group -NESG ).
● With the full attendance of various security apparatus in the country, In August 2022 , a pipeline surveillance contract was issued out to a private security firm at the cost of 48bn Naira per year.
MERITS OF COMMODITY BOARDs
Nigeria is an agrarian country , engaging about 55% of her labour force on subsistence agriculture with about 22% selfsufficiency.
●In the good old days of Commodity Boards. The Marketing Boards ensured farmers produced with the best inputs of seedlings for high quality crops such as Cocoa, groundnuts, palm produce, rubber plantation etc.producing best quality commodity produce for the global market.
● The farmers were guaranteed fair prices .
● The revenues realised by the Marketing Boards were used by the government to provide welfare programmes for the people such as free education and infrastructural developments.
● Developmental programmes in extension services in form of trainings and provision of relevant informations including provision of consular services.
DEMERITS OF COMMODITY BOARDS
▪ The government arbitrarily fixes prices which mark down farmers so that government can take in enough revenue for itself.
▪ Corruption of government officials feathering their own nest at the expense of the farmers on one hand and the entire agric business chain.
▪- Govt. often got entangled in the politics of global commodity prices.
▪ Policy surmasult stifles the economy causing business to collapse and discourages foreign investments.
No business grows in an atmosphere of uncertainty where policies are tosed out at the whims and caprices of those in power not considering it deleterious impart on investors and the economy.
EXPERIENCES FROM OTHER CLIMES .
In 1963, following famine, India imported 250tons of high – yielding Mexican dwarf wheat varieties to test farms on a wide scale. Positive results led to the importation of a further 18000tons the following year which transform the wheat production of the South Asian country. Three harvest later the sector added a contributory pool of $1.9bn to the nation’s GDP. This alter the country’s trajectory in other cereals farming production.
■ About 70% of wheat demand in Nigeria is imported (4.7mt). The agronomy of wheat production is yet to give a reliable results from the 8 northern states of Kebbi, Jigawa( Hadeja), Bauchi, Nasarawa, kano, Katsina , Gombe and Adamawa. Am aware some Direct Foreign Investments especially in food industry-milling are assiduously working on it with the aim of reducing importation cost.

The equipment is made to consists of Double Stage Semi Hermatic compressors. The Shock freezers system allows to lower the temperature very rapidly up to -180°C degrees. Freezing is provided by air coolers of it by blowing over fronted surface of the wagon. This enables to freeze down quickly in cold air flow. The room air should not exceed 35°/-40.°C. Besides, it’s proven to be a low-waste and environment friendly system.
COLDSTORAGE
This system is manufactured and installed with the entire components like it is ready to use. It could be of mobile device.
This system can be disassembled so it can be moved to other places.
Cold storage consist of the following levels and types of preserving:
-Cold-rooms 🙁 +16° / +5°C)
-Cold storage Rooms (+5°/-5°C)
-Freezing Rooms : (-18°/-23°C)
-Shock freezer :(-35°/-40°C) .
DEEPFREEZE ROOMS.
These are for preserving products such as meat, poultry etc. For a long time. They are preserved under temperatures not exceeding – 18°/-23°C. In order to isolate these rooms 150mm width sandwich panels are used.
